Don’t Go Into That Meeting Without Your Words
For SENCo meetings, EHCP applications, EHCP reviews, CAMHS appointments, GP referrals, Right to Choose conversations, behaviour meetings and private assessment preparation.
A diagnosis is not required for parents to request an EHC needs assessment, but clear evidence of need is essential.
You deserve to walk in prepared.
What Happens Next?
Thank you for purchasing your Parent Script.
You're not expected to have all the answers. You don't need to know the right terminology or understand every part of the SEND system. This process is designed to help you organise your thoughts and make sure your concerns are clearly communicated.
Your Next Steps
1. Complete the Parent Information Form
Please fill in the form as thoroughly as you can. The information you provide helps ensure your script reflects your child's unique strengths, needs and experiences.
You may wish to include:
Your child's age and year group
Any diagnoses or suspected needs (such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia or anxiety)
The purpose of the meeting (SENCo meeting, EHCP application, annual review, CAMHS appointment, GP referral, behaviour meeting, Right to Choose discussion, etc.)
Specific concerns you would like addressed
Examples of difficulties experienced at home and/or school
What support has already been tried
Any questions you would like help asking during the meeting
2. Upload Relevant Documents (Optional)
If you have them, supporting documents can help provide additional context. These might include:
School reports
Previous assessments
Professional reports
Behaviour logs
Correspondence from school or other services
EHCP paperwork
Please do not worry if you do not have these documents. The Parent Script can still be created without them.
3. Allow Time for Preparation
Once your form has been submitted, your information will be carefully reviewed. Your Parent Script will be tailored to your circumstances, helping you feel more prepared and confident during important conversations about your child.
4. Check Your Email
Your completed Parent Script will be sent to the email address provided at checkout within the stated turnaround time.
Please check your junk or spam folder if you have not received confirmation emails.
A Final Thought
Parents often tell me they worry about "saying the wrong thing" or becoming emotional during meetings. That is entirely understandable. These conversations matter because your child matters.
The purpose of the Parent Script is not to replace your voice. It is there to support it.
You know your child best. This simply helps you find the words when the pressure is on.
If you have any questions before submitting your form, please get in touch through ADHD in Practice.
You do not have to navigate this journey alone.
Important note
This is parent support, preparation and guidance. It is not legal advice. If your situation requires legal advice, tribunal representation or formal legal guidance, you may need to speak to a qualified SEND solicitor or specialist legal service.
