We stopped firefighting and started parenting together
Our daughter is 13, bright, capable and full of potential, but for a long time she was barely accessing school. The school refusal had become overwhelming, and although we knew she was intelligent, her dyslexia and ADHD were affecting everything - confidence, learning, friendships, and her ability to cope day to day. She was reactive, anxious and increasingly disconnected from school life.
Janine understood very quickly that this was never about laziness or unwillingness. She helped us and school see the bigger picture. Her support was thoughtful, practical and incredibly well judged. She helped our daughter feel understood rather than judged, and that changed the tone of everything.
The progress has been remarkable. Our daughter has returned to school, is now managing lessons far better, and is beginning to enjoy learning again, slowly. Her friendships have improved, she is less reactive, and she seems far more secure in herself. We are finally seeing the bright, capable girl we always knew was there. I am not saying days are not a battle as they are, but so much better than where we started from.
Janine’s support has made a profound difference not just to our daughter’s education but to her wellbeing and future.
